The Haut-Jabron canyoning route is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful canyons in the Verdon region. A true geological gem, its natural beauty alone makes it well worth the trip.
It is suitable for all levels (swimming ability required), whether you are a beginner or have some prior experience, and regardless of your physical condition. Although it is not a very long canyoning route, it is highly playful and allows everyone to discover the activity without pressure: obstacles such as jumps, abseils, and slides can all be bypassed.
However, when you choose to take them on, these obstacles are just as impressive as in more challenging canyon descents.

Full description of the Haut-Jabron Gorge canyoning activity
When you book, we will send you detailed directions to reach the meeting point parking area. The departure and arrival point is the same. It is located in the commune of La Bâtie, about 20 minutes from Castellane, a highly popular area for outdoor activities and white-water sports in the Verdon Gorges (hiking, canoeing, rafting, aquatic trekking, stand-up paddle, swimming in the lakes, etc.).
Once parked at the canyon, you will no longer need your vehicle (don’t worry… your car keys will be kept safe and dry).
Your certified canyoning instructor will provide all the necessary equipment for this safe outdoor activity: a full neoprene wetsuit (jacket and trousers), neoprene socks, a helmet, and a harness equipped with safety lanyards. You will need to bring a swimsuit or swim shorts, as well as a pair of trainers that you will wear throughout the activity. Suitable canyoning shoes are closed sports shoes with a firm, non-slip sole that is not too soft.
You will then walk for around 30 minutes along a peaceful shaded trail to reach the starting point of the Haut-Jabron canyon, a small tributary of the Verdon River.
Your guide will help you get equipped and will provide all safety instructions before the start of this outdoor adventure, allowing you to fully enjoy a half-day rich in emotions and sensations in one of the most beautiful canyons in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
The descent begins with a short walk in the stream, allowing you to gently get used to the environment and immerse yourself in the canyon.
After a few dozen metres, you reach the top of a waterfall carved into limestone rock. This 4-metre slide is easy and very fun, but will quickly raise your heart rate — thrills guaranteed! You land in a deep natural pool which you cross by swimming, with the opportunity to watch others slide down.
The route continues through a very narrow gorge, almost underground in places. The scenery is breathtaking. You may make a small jump in this spectacular setting before reaching the second slide, also known as the “cannonball slide”. About 6 metres long and 4 metres high, it delivers strong sensations and briefly submerges you underwater. For those who prefer not to take it on, a rope handline allows you to bypass it safely.
Next comes a canyoning jump. You climb onto a 4-metre rock platform using a fixed rope. Those who do not wish to jump can simply enjoy the scenery and watch others take the plunge.
At the exit of the gorge, you move through a narrow passage to reach a new jump of around 5 metres into a turquoise pool, where you swim a few metres to reach the bank. Once again, the clear water and surrounding cliffs make this an exceptional natural setting.
The adventure continues with an optional 10-metre pendulum abseil from a rock ledge, accessed via a via corda. Those who prefer not to take part can simply enjoy a swim in this magnificent environment.
This marks the end of your white-water canyoning experience. After changing back into your clothes, you will walk back for around 30–40 minutes accompanied by your guides to return to the vehicles.
A picnic break is not included during this half-day activity, but you are free to picnic at the parking area (in nature) before or after the outing.
