Our canyoning routes around Castellane

Situated between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Alpes-Maritimes, Castellane is an ideal base for discovering some of the region’s most beautiful canyoning routes. Within less than an hour’s drive, you can access several very different canyons, each offering a unique experience with crystal-clear waters, waterfalls, jumps, natural slides, and abseiling sections.

Close to Castellane, the Haut-Jabron Gorge is often the first choice for those looking to discover canyoning. Its fun, accessible, and varied route allows participants to enjoy the activity in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Towards Grasse and the Nice hinterland, the Saint-Auban Gorge offers a more challenging descent, renowned for its turquoise waters, aquatic sections, and succession of natural obstacles that make it a favourite among adventure seekers.

Further north, towards Colmars-les-Alpes and the gateway to the Mercantour National Park, the Lance Torrent provides a completely different experience. This sporty canyon unfolds in a wild alpine setting, featuring beautiful waterfalls, several abseils, and total immersion in the natural landscapes of the Upper Verdon.

One of the great advantages of staying in Castellane is the easy access to a wide variety of canyoning environments. In just a few kilometres, the scenery changes dramatically: the limestone gorges of the Verdon give way to the alpine valleys of the Upper Verdon and the more Mediterranean landscapes of the Grasse countryside. Whether you are spending your holidays in the Verdon, visiting Grasse, or staying near Colmars-les-Alpes, you will easily find a canyon suited to your level and your sense of adventure.
